Dolphin CAD Tutorial 1
| Toolbars |
Defaults and Properties |
Drawing templates |

Describes switching toolbars on and off, positioning and resizing toolbars. Although shown using the CAD system these procedures apply to all the PartMaster modules.

Setting the defaults and users preferences for the CAD system and the properties (metric/imperial etc) associated with a particular drawing.

The templates used by PartMaster are similar to those used by office applications such as MS Word, they set the default conditions and the "Look and Feel" of a drawing - borders, frames and title blocks etc.
| Snap modes |
Deleting |
Customizing Toolbars

Snap modes control the way new items are placed on a drawing with reference to existing items, for instance "Snap" or "Lock" a Circle to the Mid-point of a line.

Covers how to delete single items or entire areas of a drawing, can be used to select just elements of a certain type for deleting.

Describes setting up your own style of toolbars by adding or removing icons. Switching on/off text labels, and displaying large or small icons.
Dolphin CAD Tutorial 2
| Basic Drawing Construction |
Layer Gallery |
Text Gallery

Creating a fairly simple shape but showing various construction techniques such as Parallel Lines, Fillets, Chamfers and Trimming.

Shows the layer gallery and how to create layers, assign attributes to layers, switch layers on/off, locking layers, printing layers etc.

Shows the text gallery and how to create text styles, size and attributes such as Bold, Italic etc. Assigning text to particular functions such as dimensioning. Using Windows fonts or PartMaster's "Stroke" fonts.
Dolphin CAD Tutorial 3
| Adding a Toolpath |
Typed Co-Ordinates |
Basic Dimensions |

Shows how to create a Contour for Milling (see also Creating Profiles for Turning) on existing geometry. Setting a Datum position and transferring the Contour through to the Machining Module.

Shows how to create a shape using the Command window to enter the coordinates for a shape. Input can be Absolute or Incremental from a fixed or floating Datum position.

Creates range of dimension types covering Horizontal, Vertical, Radial, Circular, Angled. Shows setting Dimension parameters and Dimension styles.
Dolphin CAD Tutorial 4
| Creating Profiles |
Cut - Copy - Place & Scaling Geometry
Mirror Imaging Geometry

Demonstrates how to create a Profile for Turning on an existing drawing. Shows to to set a Datum position (Z Zero) and transfer the Profile through to the machining module.

Demonstrates Cut & Paste to duplicate geometry, also shows how to scale and stretch geometry.

Demonstrates how to create a Mirror Image of an item or an area of a drawing.
Dolphin CAD Tutorial 5
| Rotating Geometry |
Geometry Construction - Radial Slot |
Clipping Geometry (Trim & Extend)

Demonstrates how to rotate an item or an area of a drawing. Create a single or multiple copies.

Demonstrates how to create a Radial slot. Uses Arc tangent to 3 elements and shows how to clip (trim) items.

Demonstrates how to Trim & Extend elements that overlap or do not meet. Simple line used and more complex multi-element shape. Really useful.
Dolphin CAD Tutorial 6
| Importing a DXF File |
Changing Multiple Elements |
Nesting - Manual

Shows how to import a DXF file and create multiple Contours automatically.

Shows how to select and change multiple elements. Moving objects to a different layer. Changing a single element.

Demonstrates how to use various methods to "Nest" multiple components onto a single work piece.
